how do I increase network adapter link speed from 100/100 Mbps to 1000/1000 Mbps on Win 11

Question

Using Robocopy to copy backup files to NAS is running at 1.5 - 5 Mbps and Task Manager reports the Network at 98% capacity. We are at the begining of tuning project begining at the PC and working toward the NAS and then the Cloud (provider to be chosen from MS OneDrive, AWS or Dropbox).

The PC is currently not able to externalize backups over the network to the local NAS fast enough to be useful. The target NAS has Celeron 4 CPU/4 threads, 32 GB and is using SMB protocol from Robocopy.

As a first step we want to increase the Network Adapter from 100/100 Mpbs to 1000/1000 Mpbs.

I will appreciate any help we can get.

What is the exact machine model(run "msinfo32" then check)? Or what is the exact network adapter model?

First of all, we should ensure the network adapater could support 1000Mb network speed. We could check this from the device manufacturer website. Update the network adapter driver from the device manufacturer website. We may need to check the network adapter property for the network speed option(network mode).

If the network only support 100Mb at most, we may consider to add an external network adapter that support 1000Mb.

If the network adapter supports 1000Mb, we could use the professional tool to test whether present network environment is a 1000Mb network.
