Hi,
We have enabled Azure Monitor-managed Grafana and Prometheus in our Azure Kubernetes environment and need help with the following:
- Custom Domain for Grafana
When enabling Grafana, Azure provides a default domain (URL) that is not user-friendly.
We already have our own Grafana domain configured and would like to use it instead of the Azure-provided URL.
2. Monitoring Azure Virtual Machines with Prometheus
Prometheus is currently monitoring Kubernetes cluster nodes, but we also have several Azure Virtual Machines (VMs) running.
We want to collect VM metrics using Azure Monitor-managed Prometheus and visualize them in Azure Monitor-managed Grafana alongside our Kubernetes cluster metrics.
Could you please provide guidance and steps to configure the above requirements?

- Access your DNS provider's management console: Log into your DNS provider’s portal.
- Set up a CNAME record with your desired custom domain (e.g., grafana.yourdomain.com) that points to the default Azure Grafana URL.
- Please note that it may take some time for the DNS changes to fully propagate.
Monitoring Azure VMs with Azure Monitor-managed Prometheus:
1.Verify that Azure Monitor for VMs is enabled in your Azure subscription.
2.Add the necessary Prometheus configuration to your Kubernetes cluster to scrape metrics from the Azure VMs.3.In your Azure Monitor-managed Grafana, make sure Prometheus is added as a data source (if it's not already configured).
4.Once Prometheus is set up, you can create Grafana dashboards to visualize the metrics from both your Kubernetes cluster and Azure VMs.

I have configured the default Grafana URL on my DNS system and am waiting to verify its functionality.
Regarding my other question on monitoring Azure VMs with Azure Monitor-managed Prometheus:
I still cannot confirm whether this option is fully workable. My Grafana and Prometheus setup is already monitoring the Kubernetes cluster, but the provided documentation does not clearly explain how to scrape metrics from VMs. Additionally, there are no clear instructions or examples for monitoring VMs using Azure Managed Prometheus.
It would be really helpful if I could get detailed steps or examples to follow.
