Hello @ SUIKA
Typically, Work or School accounts use a custom domain that your organization owns (for example, yourcompany.com
) and are managed through MS Entra ID. These accounts are distinct from personal Microsoft accounts.
It is unlikely for a Work or School account to have the domain outlook.com
. While Microsoft provides personal email services via Outlook.com, Work or School accounts generally have domains that reflect an organization's custom domain (e.g., ******@company.com
)
Most organizations that use Microsoft 365 or Entra ID will use a custom domain (e.g., ******@company.com
).
For small businesses or organizations that aren't using a custom domain, some might have a default domain like yourcompany.onmicrosoft.com
, but not outlook.com
. While you can't use outlook.com
for a Work or School account. you can go with to make the work account's email name the same as my Microsoft account.
An organization can invite your personal email to join their Azure Active Directory (Entra) tenant as a guest user. This process essentially allows your personal email to be associated with the organization's Work or School account. Even though your personal email is used to invite you, the organization’s domain will not change. For example, if you're invited to @company.com, you’re still using your personal email address (@outlook.com or ******@gmail.com), but it’s now tied to the organization's Azure AD as a guest account.
I hope this clarifies things.
