How to reset Windows 11 admin password without being admin

Windows 11 authentication issue.  The loop is that the admin password has expired and so I am unable to log in as Admin to reset it.  I have tried biometrics (face recognition)  and PIN but nothing is accepted as alternative for the password.

This has happened on two PCs on which we  had set up a few months ago and which we set to have passwords never expiring.  The user level passwords for day-to-day use are working fine.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

I suggest you try changing the password for the Administrator account in safe mode, please refer to the steps below:

    1. Click "Start" > "Power", then hold down the Shift key and click Restart. Your computer will restart and display the Windows Recovery Environment. From here, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.User's image
    2. Press F6 to select "Enable safe mode with Command Prompt". In the Command Prompt window, type "net user Administrator newpassword" and press Enter. Replace "newpassword" with the new password you want to create.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best regards

    Zunhui
