Azure DataBricks Usage Dashboard

Hi I'm trying to enable Usage Dashboard on Azure Databricks for my workspace but getting

[INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS] Insufficient privileges: User does not have USE SCHEMA on Schema 'system.billing'. SQLSTATE: 42501

Issue after I generated dashboard over https://accounts.databricks.com CleanShot 2025-03-28 at 14.28.32

The error message:[INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS] Insufficient privileges: User does not have USE SCHEMA on Schema 'system.billing'

Have you checked if your user or group has the USE SCHEMA privilege on system.billing?

Suggests that your account doesn’t have the necessary access to the system.billing schema. Here’s how you can resolve it:

Check Your Permissions: Ensure you have the correct permissions. Typically, you need to be an account admin or have the necessary Unity Catalog privileges to access system schemas like system.billing. If you’re unsure, check with your Databricks workspace administrator.

Grant the Necessary Permissions: If you have admin rights, you can grant yourself (or your group) the required permissions using the following SQL commands
-- Grant USE SCHEMA privilege GRANT USE SCHEMA ON SCHEMA system.billing TO `<your-user-or-group>`; -- Grant SELECT privilege on necessary tables GRANT SELECT ON TABLE system.billing.usage TO `<your-user-or-group>`; GRANT SELECT ON TABLE system.billing.list_prices TO `<your-user-or-group>`;

Enable the system.billing Schema: Before accessing system.billing, an account admin needs to enable it. You can do this via the Databricks CLI using the following command
databricks system-schemas enable <METASTORE_ID> billing
Replace <METASTORE_ID> with your actual metastore ID.
