AZURE WILL DELETE YOUR DOMAIN FOR NO REASON DURING AUTO-RENEW.

DO NOT USE AZURE TO HOLD YOUR DOMAINS. THE PLATFORM WILL LOSE THEM DUTING AUTO RENEW!

I had a domain set to AutoRenew. It appears the auto renew failed. The resource is no where to be found on my Azure account. I tried to contact support by opening a ticket and was told I needed to pay for a developer support plan to open a support ticket. I paid for the option and only have the option to post here in a public form.

I have another domain set to auto renew in May. I tried to renew it manually. I receive this error:

The subscription *** is not eligible to create an App Service Domain.

It appears my subscription has lost the ability to renew any domain. My last successful domain renewal was on 3/19/2025 9:15:25 AM.

I guess you didnt even read my question. I am so glad I was forced to post my subscription id on the internet where anyone can access it.

THE DOMAIN IN QUESTION WAS PURCHASED 20 YEARS AGO. FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON AUTO RENEW FAILED.

I TRIED TO RENEW A DIFFERENT DOMAIN THAT IS SET TO EXPIRE NEXT MONTH AND THAT GENERATED THE ERROR MESSAGE.

If the domain is not visible in your azure account, it may have been removed. If there is a deletion within the last seven days, you can try to buy the same domain again without additional fees. If it has exceeded seven days, you will have to contact Azure support to help restore the domain.
There are limits about some azure membership type, such as free testing and credit-based membership, domain operations. In particular, they cannot support the construction or renewal of app service domains

Even with Auto-Renue competent, if there is any problem with the payment method on the file (eg, expired credit card), the renewal may fail.

Confirm that your membership is not a free testing or credit-based type, as they have domain-related restrictions

Make sure the credit card attached to your azure account is current and has sufficient amount. A finished or invalid card can lead to renewal failures.

Given the urgency, it is advisable to contact the azure support directly. When you have faced challenges with support access, consider reaching through the support section of the Azure Portal or through the official azure support channels.

If the domain is finished and is in the redemption period, Azure support can help recover it.

Even with Auto-RENU enabled, check the position of your domain to hold possible issues from time to time.

Ensure that your contact details to obtain important information about the domain position are current in Azure.

Unfortunately, Azure will not let you open a technical support ticket. After paying for the $29 developer support, I was able to post here and get "priority" responses. The agent working lied and said with that plan I could open a technical support ticket. I had to spend an additional $100 to find out that the platform renewed the domain and then lost it. It looks like Azure doesn't have a way to handle any kind of fault recovery here. I learned my lesson, do not use Azure.

App service will renew when auto-renew option is enabled, domain will be renewed before the end, or it will enter the redemption period after the right time, and we can tell them it will automatically to be renewed the next day

If auto-renew option is disabled, the subscription needs to renew before expiring or it would jump to the after 19 days phase

you check the domain end timeline in GoDaddy web site

First 5 days there will be no effect but after 5 days of expire your DNS records will be removed, and it will redirect to GoDaddy website in that time period or in between time like 5-18 days customer need to renew on azure portal. You can check your App service is restored or not after 19 days of time limit. Still, you face redemption issue you need to raise the request to AVA through the redeem the domain in GoDaddy site.

This process will be initiated by EEE, and the customer will receive an email from GoDaddy with the next stages. They need to create a GoDaddy account to pay a redemption fee of approximately $ 80. Once the domain becomes active in GoDaddy, it cannot be moved back to Azure.

Between the days of 26–30 and 36–42, there will be an auction for the domain and will be able to bid high value for any registrar (including customer) domains and buy it from GoDaddy.

Yes that is the intended functionality. That was not what happened. The Azure platform failed to renew my domain properly. The domain was still working but it was not found on my Azure account. I was forced to pay $129 dollars in support for the platform team to correct the issue. To those who are reading this, do not trust Azure with holding any critical domains.
