I am trying to restore my App Service (NCMSCareers) from Backups. The restore is failing:

Error message indicates a failure during the restore operation due to an "Access denied" issue when attempting to access a specific path: "Access denied while accessing the path D:\Resources\Directory\waws-prod-blu-467.ControllerRole.BackupRestore\935c1bb8-bc30-463b-a8ff-d9b17033d72e\fs\changes\changes_1.txt", This suggests that the restore process does not have the permissions to open some of the files or folders.

Restore process can be trying to overwrite files that are currently in use or locked, leading to access denial. Restart the App Service can unlock any file locks and prevent processes from using the files while restoring. Stopping the app temporarily can ensure all files are accessible and not in use during the restore process.

Some configurations, such as WEBSITE_RUN_FROM_PACKAGE, can make the wwwroot directory read-only, preventing file modifications during restoration. Check your app's configuration settings: Go to your App Service's Configuration section. Look for the WEBSITE_RUN_FROM_PACKAGE setting. If it's set to 1, change it to 0 to allow file modifications. Remember to restart your app after making this change.

If overwriting the existing app continues to fail, consider restoring the backup to a new app or a deployment slot. This approach can help isolate the issue and ensure a clean restoration process.

I have the same issue, in my app the environment variable WEBSITE_RUN_FROM_PACKAGE does not exist

What else can I check?

I created a deployment slot and was able to restore back to staging - however, I did not realize that the MySQL DB is a separate backup and restore process which I am trying to get completed now but am running into problems.
