Hello,

we want to use the AGIC in a cluster with Overlay CNI enabled. As far as we know, support for this has been implemented in Release 2025-03-16. Our cluster is located in Germany West Central and the AKS rollout has been finished according to the Release Status page. However, when enabling the Add-On with an Application Gateway, we still receive an error that its unsupported.

Is it known when it will be fully available in Germany West Central?

Hi Hund, Tobias,

Based on the latest updated release notes shared above, the Application Gateway Ingress Controller feature now supports Azure CNI overlay clusters was recently launched.

While there have been mentions in release notes, as of now, there is no officially announced ETA for full support of the Application Gateway Ingress Controller (AGIC) with Azure CNI Overlay networking. If you are using the add-on with Application Gateway on AKS, Micrsoft Azure performs the patches will be rolled out without any official ETA mentioned.

Thanks for your reply. In fact the documentation has been updated yesterday indicating that the feature is ready to use. Also the updates page lists it already as a preview feature that should be available to all customers https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updates/?id=485357

You're absolutely correct that the documentation has been updated recently, confirming that the feature is ready for use. The updates page indeed lists this feature as a public preview as it is available for use but may not yet have full production-level support or guarantees.

The solution is to register for the public preview. Then it can be used.
