Hi,

We recently received a notification from Microsoft regarding the deprecation of older Entra Connect Sync versions:

"Microsoft Entra Connect Sync versions 2.3.20.0 and lower will be deprecated effective April 30, 2025, as part of our initiative to enhance the security of our customers' environments. This date has been extended by 3 weeks from the previously communicated date of April 7, 2025."

I checked our Domain Controller and found that the Microsoft Azure AD Connect Provisioning Agent is running. However, I couldn't find any instance of Microsoft Entra Connect Sync or Azure AD Connect.

Given this, do we still need to take action on this notification and upgrade to Microsoft Entra Connect Sync?

    Hi Roopesh

    Thanks for using QandA platform.

Based on your description, you are currently using the Microsoft Azure AD Connect Provisioning Agent, not Microsoft Entra Connect Sync (formerly Azure AD Connect Sync).

No action is needed regarding this deprecation notice if you're not using Entra Connect Sync at all.

Find documentation for a better understanding of both tools: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/hybrid/cloud-sync/what-is-cloud-sync#comparison-between-microsoft-entra-connect-and-cloud-sync

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you.

    Regards,
