The Locate device option in Microsoft Intune is a remote action used to retrieve the location of a lost or stolen device. The location is determined upon triggering the action, and the user is notified accordingly, as mentioned in the snip below when we click Locate device.
As stated in the below documentation, no device location data is sent to Intune until this action is initiated. Therefore, it’s not possible to retrieve location details for all enrolled devices by default.
This remote action is supported on the following platforms:
- Android Enterprise (Dedicated, Fully Managed, Corporate-Owned)
- iOS/iPadOS in Supervised or Lost Mode
- Windows 10 and 11
