Clarification on Azure SQL Data Sync Retirement & Alternative Solutions

Dear Azure Support,

I recently noticed that Azure SQL Data Sync is scheduled for retirement on September 30, 2027. We have several production environments that rely on SQL Data Sync for bidirectional synchronization between on-premises MS SQL databases and Azure SQL databases.

As this service is critical to our operations, we would like to understand what alternative solution Azure recommends that provides identical functionality. Could you please clarify the available options and suggest the best approach to ensure a smooth transition without affecting our production environment?

SQL Data Sync will be retired on 30 September 2027. By then, consider migrating to alternatives data replication/synchronization solutions.

SQL Data Sync is a service built on Azure SQL Database that lets you synchronize the data you select bi-directionally across multiple databases, both on premises and in the cloud. The three main scenarios for SQL Data Sync are:

Hybrid data synchronization: You use SQL Data Sync to synchronize databases in SQL Server and Azure SQL Database.

Distributed applications: You use SQL Data Sync to separate the workload across different databases for reporting purposes.

Globally-distributed applications: You use SQL Data Sync to synchronize data across different countries and regions. The alternatives depends on the whether the sync that has currently been established , are they needed in real time or batch/scheduled way
