How can I delete my Azure Cloud subscription?

I have had an inactive Azure subscription for over a year. I was not being charged throughout this period. All of a sudden, Azure is charging me a few cents every month. I don't want to pay. I just want to delete my Azure subscription. How can I do this?

When I call the customer service phone number (800-642-7676), an AI answers and refuses to connect me to a live person. Ultimately, the AI hung up on me.

Log in to the Azure portal
Navigate to Cost Management + Billing.

Select Subscriptions (or Azure subscriptions, depending on your view).

From the list, choose the subscription you wish to cancel.

At the top of the page, select Cancel.

If there are any resources still associated with the subscription, Azure will display them. Review and then click on Cancel subscription.
