Outlook emails auto-deleting unexpectedly—how to prevent this?
I was in my Outlook Sent Items folder. Then I switched over to the Inbox. Although I didn't click anything, the emails in my inbox started auto deleting one by one before my very eyes. I couldn't stop the deletion no matter where I clicked. Finally, I switched over to another application and then switched back to Outlook. Only then did the auto deletion stop. But by then, a few hundred emails over 2.5 months had been deleted. Unfortunately, when I went over to the Deleted Items folder, none of the deleted emails were there. I also used the Recover Deleted Items from Server function, but the deleted emails were also not there. I have 2 questions:
- How/Why did Outlook activate the auto deletion function even though I didn't do anything?
- How do I recover the emails that have disappeared?
I am using Outlook 365
