Unable to Sign In to Personal Azure Account - Error 500121

Hi I am encountering issues when attempting to sign in to a personal Azure account after linking with professional Azure accounts.

The following error occurs: Error 500121 while using the Authenticator app with the personal Azure account. The Authenticator app works for other Microsoft services (such as Outlook and account profile access), but no notifications are received for connecting to Azure specifically.

Additionally, the "Use a verification code" option requires a 6-digit code, while the Authenticator app provides an 8-digit code.

Efforts to re-enroll the outlook account in the Authenticator app have not resolved the issue.

Stack details:

Error Code: 500121

    Hello Antoine Mazé

I understand that you are encountering issues when attempting to sign in to a personal Azure account after linking with professional Azure accounts. You are facing Error 500121 while using the Authenticator app with the personal Azure account and receiving eight-digit authenticator code when trying to sign into personal account.

Even though it’s an 8-digit code. In Microsoft accounts we get 6-digit code in authenticator app while in personal accounts we get 8-digit code.

Try to Re-register MFA. As you are global administrator you can Re-register MFA for user.

When you sign in again, you will be prompted to set up your MFA. Follow the prompts to add the Microsoft Authenticator app again and sign in account you will receive code.

    Follow the below steps:
Sign in to the Azure portal.

    • On the left, select Azure Active Directory > Users > All users.
    • Choose your account->select Authentication methods and click "Require re-registration for MFA".

And if you see access panel control on the above page click on it .
it will redirect you to mysign-in.microsoft.com
and select the my sign-in page and add authentication method and select the Microsoft authenticator app and add the method in new phone.
