Azure speech translation microphone not working since yesterday April 23 2025

Hello,

I am trying to use Microsoft Azure Speech Translation for live transcription and translation. However, since yesterday, April 23, 2025, the microphone is not working and is not receiving any voice or audio. When I click on the microphone, I receive the following message: "Oops, something went wrong. This page is temporarily unavailable. Return home."

I contacted Microsoft support, and after an hour, they were able to create a ticket, but the live assistant was unable to resolve the issue. I have found that other Azure users are experiencing the same problem on different devices.

Could you please advise and assist with resolving this issue?

I have cleared the cache and cookies, tried using a different browser (Microsoft Edge instead of Chrome), and restarted the Azure app. I also tested these steps across different Azure accounts and devices, but the issue persists. It is clear that the problem lies with Microsoft Azure, as the microphone for Azure Speech-to-Text is functioning properly.

I would appreciate any further assistance you can provide.

Regarding the current issue where the Speech Translation service is only transcribing without providing translation output — we understand the inconvenience, and I apologize for this experience.

As part of the ongoing improvements, I would like to suggest trying the live translation functionality in the new Azure AI Foundry portal, available here:

This is the new unified AI Foundry platform we are transitioning to, and it includes enhanced Speech services. Please let us know if you experience the same issue in this environment.

Regarding the survey: since the original microphone issue has been successfully resolved, we would sincerely appreciate it if you could consider retaking or updating the survey to reflect that resolution. Your feedback is very important to us and helps improve our service.

Thanks for your response. I am not using the SDK, and I am not a developer — I am only using Speech Translation through Azure Speech Studio. Despite following all documented steps, translation is not working. The system only provides transcription (original text), and the translated text section remains empty.

I have tested the following thoroughly:

Switching browsers (Chrome, Edge) and devices

Recording and uploading longer and clearer audio files

Using multiple target languages (Arabic, Armenian, Spanish, etc.)

Confirming my region is East US and my pricing tier is S0 Pay-as-you-go

Ensuring my Speech resource is correctly selected in Speech Studio

Verifying that I have appropriate IAM permissions (Cognitive Services Contributor role)

Additionally, I tested the same audio using Azure AI Foundry, and there the translation does work — but the tool only allows 1-minute audio files, which is not suitable for live translation or longer audio sessions.

This confirms that my configuration is correct and the resource itself is functional, but there appears to be a backend issue with Speech Translation inside Azure Speech Studio.

Please advise or escalate. I rely on this service for live interpretation needs and urgently need a fix.

Yes, I’ve been testing the Microsoft Speech Translation service over the past two days. Unfortunately, the performance has noticeably degraded. The translation is significantly less accurate than it used to be before the microphone issue. It now produces far more errors than in the past.

Additionally, the service is unstable — it frequently stops translating and switches to transcription mode instead. Even when it starts in translation mode, it doesn’t maintain it consistently and reverts to plain transcription after a short time.

At this point, the service is unreliable, and we are being charged for lower-quality output. While there were occasional errors before, the current level of inaccuracy is unacceptable.
