Hi!

MS Office outlook as email client to access my gmail for more than 4 years. I have not made any changes to any of the settings and I have started getting 'Your email served rejected your login' error. I am able to access my gmail through web using the same passwords.

I have reverified my Forwarding IMAP/POP settings in Gmail and they are ok. I have not activated 2 step verification in google.

Outlook version 2016 MSO 16.0.4266.1001 64 bit

    Hi @Dhananjay Godbole ,

    Welcome to our forum!

According to my research, Google has deprecated less secure apps, so older Outlook versions can't use basic authentication anymore.

You will need to enable Two Factor Authentication on your Google account and use a Gmail App password.

    Step 1: Enable Google Two-Factor Verification (2FA)

    Go to Google 2-Step Verification.

Click Get Started → Follow prompts to link a phone number or backup email.

    Complete setup.

Step 2: Generate a Gmail App Password

    Visit Google App Passwords.

Select Mail (App Type) → Name the device (e.g., “Outlook 2016”).

Click Generate → Copy the 16-character password

Step 3: Update Outlook 2016 Settings

    1. Delete the existing Gmail account: Outlook → File → Account Settings → Select your Gmail account → Remove.
    2. Re-add the account
