External user who is provided with Owner permissions to the SharePoint Online site unable to add/grant permissions to other users both internally and externally

Hello,

I have added one of my external user in the Owners group of my SharePoint Online site with Full Control permissions. When the external user try to add or provide access to other users, she is getting the error

Please configure B2B collaboration settings correctly and troubleshoot first, "https:/aka.ms/b2b-troubleshoot". Error from Entra B2B: At least one invitation failed. Error: AddUserIdToCacheFailed, message: Failed to add user info to cache.

Please help to tell me whether external users who is having owner access are allowed to provide access to other users externally and internally.

For your issue, please verify that your user account is authorized to invite external users. You can do this by navigating to: External Identities - Microsoft Azure. Check if your account has the necessary permissions enabled to invite external users

Hi @Hien-L,

The below settings has been enabled at the Microsoft Entra External Collaboration settings, but still the external user is unable to add or provide access to same domain user to the SharePoint Online site.Anyone in the organization can invite guest users including guests and non-admins (most inclusive):

The Microsoft Entra External Collaboration settings and SharePoint External sharing settings are configured to allow only approved specific domains.

Please help to provide your inputs on this.

Does the issue happen with all users and all sites?

Based on the error message, the issue may be caused by restrictions in the B2B collaboration settings in your organization mentioned in ResponseStatusNotOK when sharing a SharePoint or OneDrive site - SharePoint | Microsoft Learn.

Hi @Hien-L,

Good day!

It is related to Cross tenant settings where the Inbound and Outbound settings for the B2B Direct Connect status is blocked. If it is allowed, then it may work.
