Virus Total in Autoruns and Process Explorer

Recently the Virus Total column in the Sysinternals Autoruns and Process Explorer tools is showing an error. Autoruns will show a few correct entries initially and then eventually displays only errors. If I re-scan an entry that was correct, it will then fail and show the error. Process Explorer only shows an error.

I suspect this might be related to some recent Windows update. The reason for this suspicion is that I had a offline copy of the system disk that had not been updated in a few months. This morning I put that disk into the system and Virus Total worked fine in both Sysinternals utilities. Then I did a Windows Update. After the patches were applied and the system rebooted, Virus Total once again shows the error.
An Internet search for this showed a couple of other people have experienced this issue, but no resolution.
Any help would be appreciated!

On my Windows 11 24H2 system with AutoRuns VirusTotal entries begin to populate correctly, and then the rest all error out. Try to run AutoRuns again and you won't get any VirusTotal entries populated. Only errors in that VirusTotal column. Started doing this a month or so ago.

Try making a wifi hotspot from your phone and see if a different network fixes the problem, for me it did. -

2025-06-29T21:45:11.37+00:00 Hi. Thanks for the idea to try switching providers. I put my phone into hotspot mode and connected my computer through that (Verizon) rather than my normal ISP (xfinity) like you suggested, but unfortunately I still had the same problem. VirusTotal responses in Autoruns start out working and then change to "error" before it is finished. Even attempting to re-scan one that worked initially then returns error on subsequent attempts.
Thanks for the replies! I'm glad to hear that it is not just me who is experiencing this issue.
