Using MS purview for automated data classification labeling policies, can the data at rest get labeled as well? For example: data on SharePoint or OneDrive.

    @Mark Sannuti (C-Admin)

    Yes, Microsoft Purview can automatically classify and label sensitive data at rest, including data stored in SharePoint and OneDrive. This is achieved through auto-labeling policies, which allow Purview to detect sensitive information (like credit card numbers, SSNs, or custom sensitive information types) and automatically apply sensitivity labels based on predefined conditions.

    How It Works -

    • Sensitivity Labels - You can create and manage sensitivity labels that classify and protect your data.
    • Data at Rest - These labels can be automatically applied to data stored in SharePoint and OneDrive, ensuring consistent protection.
    • Automatic Labeling Policies - Set up policies to automatically label data when sensitive information is detected, without manual intervention.
