Does Windows 11 24H2 include Hyper-V Extensible Switch by default?

Hello,

I've installed Windows 11 24H2 ( OS build 26100.2894 ) on a physical machine. While experimenting with NIC teaming, I found that most related commands failed except NetSwitchTeam, which worked.

Upon research, I discovered that NetSwitchTeam relies on the Hyper-V Extensible Switch, yet I have not enabled Hyper-V, nor have I set up any virtual machines or connected to a remote Hyper-V server.

Additionally, the resulting team shows up using the Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver.

Could someone from Microsoft clarify:

Does Windows 11 24H2 include the Hyper-V Extensible Switch components by default?

Is it possible for parts of Hyper-V (like the extensible switch) to function without the Hyper-V role being enabled?

Under what conditions is this behavior expected?

Thank you in advance for any insight.
