I can't deploy new LLM models to Australia

The LLM model I use is ChatGpt 3.5 This is old and about to be deprecated. I can't move to a newer model because I can't deploy them into Australia. I need to deploy to the Australian region due to legal constraints.

What options do I have other than migrating to AWS?

    Hi @Scott Hopwood

You are correct that GPT-3.5 is being deprecated, and I fully understand the urgency of migrating to a supported model, especially given your legal requirement to deploy within the Australian region. At present, GPT-4.1 is the only Azure OpenAI model supported for deployment in Australia. While Microsoft’s documentation may list multiple models as globally available, actual regional support can vary due to infrastructure and compliance approvals specific to each region. If GPT-4.1 aligns with your performance and feature requirements, it represents the most straightforward and compliant solution currently available through Microsoft-hosted services in Australia. However, if your legal and compliance policies allow for some data to be processed outside of Australia, you might consider deploying in nearby regions such as Southeast Asia or East Asia, where broader model availability may exist. This could provide a temporary workaround until additional models become available in the Australian region.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
