    Hi Samuel,
    Based on your query
To create the multisession host VM on AVD Choose the Right OS: Use Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session or Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session, as these allow multiple concurrent interactive sessions. start by logging into the Azure Portal and setting up an AVD host pool. Deploy a virtual machine using a Windows 10 or Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session image, configuring its size, networking, and storage. Register the session host by generating a registration key and linking it to the host pool.
    Prerequisites

The Windows 10 or Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session is a Remote Desktop Session Host exclusive to Azure Virtual Desktop on Microsoft Azure.

    1. VM Sizing: For optimal performance, make sure your virtual machines (VMs) have between 4 to 24 cores. It’s generally recommended to start with at least 4 cores and adjust based on your expected workload. For more than 20 users, consider multiple smaller VMs instead of a single large one.
    2. Configuration: Once you have your VM set up, you need to configure it to allow multiple sessions. This typically involves:
      • Adding your VMs to a host pool.
      • Making sure that users are assigned to the same pool where they can access the multi-session capabilities.
    3. Licensing: Ensure you are aware of licensing agreements. Windows multi-session should only be run in Azure for production above Tiers pricing, as it has specific licensing requirements.

To generate a registration key in the Azure portal, navigate to Azure Virtual Desktop > Host pools > Registration key, then generate a new key with an expiration date. You can download or copy the key for later use Generate a registration key

    Dear Samuel,

Thank you for posting your question on the Q&A portal about creating a multi-session host in Azure Virtual Desktop. I appreciate you taking the time to share your query, and I’m happy to help clarify this for you.

Setting up a multi-session host in Azure Virtual Desktop allows multiple users to connect to the same virtual machine simultaneously, which is great for optimizing resources. To create one, you’ll first need to deploy a Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session or Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session image in Azure. Microsoft provides detailed guidance on how to choose the right image for your deployment in their official documentation here.

Once you’ve selected the image, you can create a host pool and add the multi-session virtual machines to it. The process involves configuring the virtual machines to allow multiple user sessions, which is different from standard single-session setups.

Don’t forget to assign users or groups to the host pool so they can access the multi-session virtual machines. Microsoft explains how to manage user assignments in their guide here.

If you run into any issues during setup, the Azure Virtual Desktop troubleshooting documentation is a great resource here.

I hope this helps you get started with your multi-session host setup.

    Best regards,
    Alex
