A domain was purchased through Azure App Service Domain, and there is a need to change the nameservers to CloudFlare. However, CloudFlare requires that their nameservers be the only ones used, while Azure App Service does not allow the deletion of Azure nameservers. Attempts were made to access dcc.secureserver.net to reset the username, but no email was received. What steps can be taken to resolve this issue?

    Hi Intellence,

I understand you want to change your domain’s nameservers to use only Cloudflare, but domains purchased through Azure App Service Domains are actually managed via GoDaddy, and the Azure Portal does not allow you to remove or change the default GoDaddy nameservers. Cloudflare requires exclusive use of its nameservers, so all other nameservers must be removed, which you can’t do through Azure.

You mentioned trying to reset your password on GoDaddy’s portal (https://dcc.secureserver.net) but not receiving the reset email. This is a common situation when the domain is registered using a Microsoft-generated email address.

1). Find your domain contact email: Go to the Azure Portal → App Service Domains → select your domain → scroll down to the Contact Information section. This email is used for GoDaddy login.

2). Log in to GoDaddy: Visit https://dcc.secureserver.net and log in using the email from above step. If you don’t remember your password, use the Forgot Username or Password? option.

3). If you don’t receive the reset email: It may be because your domain uses a Microsoft-generated email (like ******@azure0XXXXX.com). In this case, please contact Azure Support and provide the following details:

    • Your domain name
    • Explain you want to change nameservers to Cloudflare
    • Mention you need help accessing the GoDaddy Domain Control Center to update nameservers

4). Once you regain access, log into GoDaddy’s portal, go to DNS Management, choose Custom nameservers, enter the Cloudflare nameservers from your dashboard, and save the changes and please allow up to 48 hours for DNS changes to fully propagate.
