Phone Number Still Associated with Deleted Microsoft Developer Program Account

Question

I originally registered for the Microsoft Developer Program using my student email along with my personal phone number.

Later, I realized that this combination was not ideal for me, so I deleted that profile. However, I still seem to be running into an issue when I try to register a new account.

When I attempt to register for the Developer Program using my personal email along with my personal phone number, I receive a message indicating that my phone number is already associated with another account—even though I deleted the previous profile.

Similarly, if I try to register with my student email, the system still suggests using the personal phone number, meaning it remains bound to the deleted account.

I haven't found a way to remove the association of my phone number from the deleted account. Has anyone encountered this issue before, and is there a way to fully disassociate my phone number so I can register a new account with the correct credentials?
