    Hi Alan Goltman

you would need to uninstall Avast to gain control (assuming you have administrator roles in your machine)

    1. Uninstall Avast Antivirus (if you no longer wish to use it):
      • Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.
      • In the list of installed programs, locate Avast Antivirus, right-click it, and select Uninstall.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation.
      • Restart your computer.
    2. Ensure Windows Defender Firewall is enabled:
      • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      • Scroll down and ensure that Windows Defender Firewall and Windows Defender Antivirus Service are both running. If not, right-click each and select Start.
    3. Check Firewall settings:
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & network protection.
      • Confirm that the firewall is now active and manageable.
