you would need to uninstall Avast to gain control (assuming you have administrator roles in your machine)
- Uninstall Avast Antivirus (if you no longer wish to use it):
- Press Windows + R, type
appwiz.cpl
, and press Enter. - In the list of installed programs, locate Avast Antivirus, right-click it, and select Uninstall.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation.
- Restart your computer.
- Press Windows + R, type
- Ensure Windows Defender Firewall is enabled:
- Press Windows + R, type
services.msc
, and press Enter. - Scroll down and ensure that Windows Defender Firewall and Windows Defender Antivirus Service are both running. If not, right-click each and select Start.
- Press Windows + R, type
- Check Firewall settings:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & network protection.
- Confirm that the firewall is now active and manageable.
