How to Schedule Dataset Refresh on the First Day of Every Month in Power BI?

Hi,

I’m trying to configure a Power BI dataset to refresh automatically on the 1st day of every month. However, in the Scheduled Refresh settings, I only see options for daily or weekly schedules — there’s no direct way to choose a specific calendar date (like the 1st of each month).

Could you please guide me on how to set up a monthly refresh, specifically for the first of every month? If this isn’t possible within the Power BI Service alone, is there a recommended workaround (e.g., using Power Automate)?

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi Sankar Sahu,

Thank you for reaching out on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

At the moment, Power BI does not support setting a dataset refresh specifically for the first day of each month through its standard scheduling options, which are limited to daily or weekly intervals. A practical workaround is to use Power Automate, where you can create a scheduled flow that runs on the 1st of every month and triggers the dataset refresh using the "Refresh a dataset" action. This method is effective and widely used for monthly refresh scenarios.

If you are still facing any issue, please let us know in the comments and where you are encountering this error along with the screenshot for reference. We are glad to help you.
