How to have People Column saved as text

Question

I have a column in a SharePoint list that is the "Person or Group" type. I would like to save this data automatically in text form into another column to avoid the issue when employees no longer work for the company and their accounts are deactivated/deleted but we still want to retain the data. Is there a way I can do this? I have tried creating a calculated field, but the "Person or Group" type is not an available option.

According to your description, I understand you want to automatically save the username from the "User or Group" column in SharePoint so that the data is not lost if that account is no longer active.  

After researching and testing, I believe creating a solution for this involves building a custom automated flow using a tool called Power Automate.
