Window's option "update and shut down" doesn not shut down the PC

Question

During last few years I have witnessed same behavior in different Intune Windows environments, that when CU patches are installed and OS is waiting for restart, the option "update and shut down" does not work as intended, the PC will restart and start up being powered on. This just happened with me again yesterday and end result is that the PC has been powered on entire night consuming energy and being connected to internet for next 12 hours which is very unwanted behavior.

Is this a known issue, hit "like" if you experience the same behavior.

Thank you for your question, I advise you to report this through the Feedback Hub app. I noticed behavior that sometimes when you click update and shutdown, it install the update and restart but then it will shutdown but in your case, for some reason, the shutdown task after restart didn't work.
