Remove "Pending Acceptance" placeholder on Outlook Calendar

I received an email with a meeting/event invite from a spam. I accidentally clicked on and it clotted my whole month of the calendar in Outlook.

I have blocked and removed of the spam domain.

The thing is, after I have deleted the invites on my Calendar (Right click -> Delete/Delete and Do not Respond), there is a place holder still showing "Pending Acceptance". I deleted again and it comes back after I have reopened my Outlook a few days later.

How do I troubleshoot this?

Also for myself, I would like to re-create scenario and list down the steps so I can prevent this from happening again. So what causes this?

    Hi @Alpo
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the information you have provided, I am sorry about the inconvenience you are facing. Here are some possible ways to fix this issue:

    1. Manually Remove the Event from All Devices
      • If your Outlook syncs across multiple devices, delete the event from each one. Sometimes, the event reappears because it syncs back from another device
    2. Clear Cached Calendar Data
      • In Outlook Desktop, go to File > Options > Advanced > Outlook Data File Settings
      • Locate your calendar file and delete the cached data to force a refresh.
    3. Create a New Outlook Profile
    4. To avoid this problem in the future, you can:
      • Disable Automatically add events to my calendar (Settings > Calendar > Events from Email) to prevent future spam invites from appearing (This feature is only available in some regions).
      • Block Suspicious Senders.
      • Avoid Clicking on Unknown Invites.
