I am writing to seek your guidance regarding an authentication issue with our company's Azure account. We previously deployed an application through Azure, but it has not been updated for an extended period. Recently, when attempting to log in to Azure to reboot the service and deploy a new application, the system prompted for Authenticator verification. Due to the time elapsed, we no longer have access to a valid Authenticator for this account.

To clarify, this is the sole Azure account used by our company, and we do not have an internal system administrator to assist with this matter. Could you kindly advise on the steps we should take to resolve this authentication issue and regain access to the account?

We would greatly appreciate any support or documentation you can provide to help us proceed. Please let me know if further details are required from our side.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

@Sam welcome to the Microsoft Q&A community.

It seems like you're locked out of your Azure account due to an expired or inaccessible Microsoft Authenticator setup. Since you don’t have an internal system administrator to assist, here are some steps you can take to regain access:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support – If you are the only global administrator on the account and cannot access it, you will need to reach out to Microsoft Support. You can find the appropriate contact numbers based on your country here.
    2. Create a Support Ticket – If you have another Microsoft account, you can create a support ticket through the Microsoft portal here. When submitting the ticket, provide your tenant ID and explain that no admin account has access anymore.
    3. Identity Verification – Once you create a ticket, Microsoft’s data protection team will work with you to verify your identity. You will need to prove ownership of the tenant before they can assist in unlocking your account.
    4. Re-register Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – If you manage to regain access, you should immediately re-register MFA methods to ensure future access. You can follow the steps outlined here to manage authentication options. Since this is a critical issue affecting your company’s Azure services, I recommend reaching out to Microsoft Support as soon as possible. I hope these helps. Thank you for your guidance. I contacted the local Microsoft support team via phone as suggested. However, after their investigation, they were unable to locate my domain account despite it being built on Azure services. Due to the urgency of resolving this issue, I proceeded to rebuild my application using a separate account and setup.

I appreciate your assistance throughout this process, and I will reach out again if further support is needed.
