Hello,

I am trying to access Azure services (specifically the Azure Portal and Free Trial) using my personal Microsoft account:. However, I am being redirected to an old organizational tenant belonging to the my uni's .onmicrosoft.com I believe my personal account was mistakenly added as a guest user to that tenant during my time as a student (I used to log in with my student intranet email), and now the tenant appears to be deactivated or blocked due to inactivity. Whenever I try to access Azure services, I receive this error: AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity. I am currently preparing for the AZ-900 certification and need access to the Azure Portal sandbox and free tier, but this tenant association is blocking all progress. How do I remove any organizational/tenant associations for my personal Microsoft account. Thank you for your help. Best regards, Akmal Nazir

    Hi Akmal Nazir

The error message you encountered indicates that your tenant has been inactive for over 200 days past the billing cycle, triggering Microsoft’s effort to remove inactive tenants. When a tenant remains inactive for this period, the OMS commerce system imposes a login block (AADSTS5000225). Twenty days after the login block is applied, the tenant is permanently deleted.

Based on your description it seems you are preparing AZ-900, and you would like to create resources for your preparation. If it's a test tenant, please re-create a new tenant for testing purposes.

    QuickStart: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity-platform/quickstart-create-new-tenant

If you plan to unblock your inactive tenant, it’s essential that it has been blocked for less than 20 days. After the 20-day period, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
