Problem with "Create Restore Point" in older WinXP 32-Bit system

Dear Forum Members,

I wonder if I could seek some advice re. my older WinXP 32-Bit system running with Outlook Express 6 (OE6) on an Acer Veriton 7700GX. I use this older system because I have amassed over 100,000 e-mails on my C: Drive and OE6 unfortunately does not work on newer operating systems 7, 10 etc.

Something has just gone wrong with my System Restore. I cannot type into the panel a name for my proposed Restore Point. Also, I noticed that my past saves have all disappeared.

Just before this occurred, I also had a problem in opening up OE6 and System Restore and I got a message about a dll file Shlwapi.dll which I located.

I noticed a detailed procedure on the Web from 13 years ago but there was also a short remedy given too to enter wording in the black cmd screen but that did not seem to work.

Thank you for any possible assistance.

For the benefit of any members of the Forum with older computers, I have just found a remedy that works in allowing me to type as usual into the relevant panels in both System Restore in WinXP 32-Bit and Outlook Express 6 (message area). The remedy is published on the Web by Major Geeks and dates from July 2006.

The remedy involves simply typing three instructions into the Run/Regedit panel one at a time.

    These are:

    regsvr32 mshtmled.dll

    regsvr32 jscript.dll

    regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll
