I have mistakenly upgraded my Azure Search service tier from Basic to Standard. I want to downgrade it back to basic but I am unable to do it it says "Changing to lower pricing tier is not supported" I can not delete and create a new one cause It costed me a lot to train data on it.
Would appreciate the help and guidance.
Thank you

    Hi Sulaman Ahmed

Currently, Azure Search does not support downgrading from a higher tier to a lower tier. You can only switch from a lower tier to a higher tier. To change to a lower tier, you would need to create a new search service at the desired tier and then deploy your search content onto the new service. After ensuring that the old service is no longer needed, you can delete it. Unfortunately, this means you would need to manage the costs associated with creating a new service.

@Sulaman Ahmed welcome to the Microsoft Q&A community.

Unfortunately, Azure Search does not support downgrading to a lower pricing tier once the service has been created. The only way to switch to a lower tier is to create a new search service at the desired tier, migrate your data, and then delete the old service.

I understand that retraining your data is costly, so you might want to explore ways to efficiently migrate your existing indexes and configurations to the new service. You can find more details on Azure's official documentation here.

I hope these helps. Let me know if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.
