I want to delete my credit

2025-06-09T19:12:07.4933333+00:00

Hello,

I would like to permanently remove my current default payment method from my Azure billing account.

There are no active subscriptions, no pending charges, and no invoices due. However, the system does not allow me to remove the card because it is set as the default payment method.

Please assist me in either:

  1. Removing the default payment method manually, or
  2. Closing and deleting the billing profile completely.

Thank you.

    Hi شذى محمد احمد مرزوقي

To delete your default payment method, Azure requires that it first be replaced with another active payment method.

Please follow the step-by-step process outlined below:

Sign in to the Azure portal.

Search for and select Cost Management + Billing.

In the left-hand menu, select Billing profiles.

Choose the billing profile currently using the payment method you want to delete.

Click on Payment methods from the menu.

Under the Default payment method section, select Replace.

Choose an existing payment method from the dropdown or select Add payment method to add a new one.

After setting a new default, you can now delete the old card.

    Note:

If you're looking to close and delete the entire billing profile, please make sure:

There are no active subscriptions linked to the profile.

There are no pending charges or invoices due.

Once these conditions are met, you’ll be able to proceed with closing the billing profile directly from the Azure portal.
