Azure for Students – AVD Login Suddenly Not Working

I set up Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) using an Azure for Students subscription. Everything worked fine until about a week ago. Now, when I try to log in with the assigned user:

The Remote Desktop app gets stuck in an infinite loading loop.

The web client shows an error saying the password is incorrect, even though I’m sure the credentials are right.

I haven’t changed anything in the configuration. Could this be related to a recent change in licensing or authentication policies?

Assuming your session hosts are Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) joined, there is a required custom RDP property for the host pool custom RDP property:

To access Microsoft Entra joined VMs using the web, Android, macOS, or iOS clients, you must add the following custom RDP property to your host pool: targetisaadjoined:i:1

Ensure that the user is assigned to the correct application group. Next, verify that they are signing in with the correct credentials. Double-check the username and password, and consider resetting the password to rule out any login issues.

If you're using the web client, check for any cached credential issues. Try clearing the browser’s cache and cookies, or test with a different browser to see if the issue persists.
