Entra - Custom Branding - Custom CSS Issues

Attached is the details for issues encountered with Microsoft Entra's Branding Custom CSS functionality.

Summary:

There are classes that are inconsistently not in other views that should be using the same element. The custom CSS template have classes that can't be changed even though it should be allowed. Please read the document to get a better detailed list of issues.

Please let me know if there is any other step I can take to better use the Custom CSS functionality or if there is anything the Microsoft team can do to fix these issues.

Thanks for sharing it. Please try using color code instead of color name and see if that works in some places in your CSS. we will get back to you soon.

You have identified edge cases very well. We have tested in our env as well and found same limitations as you.

.ext-boilerplate-text- is applied to all the subsequent pages of sign-in except for only for pick an account page and this is expected.

ext-input.ext-text-box::placeholder - placeholder styling is not supported in Microsoft Entra custom CSS. This is because the placeholder text (like "Email address") is rendered inside secure components that don’t allow custom CSS to override its style — even with ::placeholder, !important, or vendor-specific selectors.

identityBanner - not supported and there is no working class to target identityBanner as of now

Can't change the color of stay signed in title as that is default and does not allow customization.
