How can I disable or hide the 'Show data point as a table' option in Power BI visuals?

1. Use Measures Instead of Columns

If you use a measure instead of a raw column in your visual, the "Show data point as a table" option often becomes unavailable. This is because measures are aggregations and don’t expose row-level data 2. Hide Tables or Fields You can hide the underlying table or fields from the Fields pane:

Go to the Fields pane.

Right-click the table or field and select Hide.

This limits what is shown when "Show data point as a table" is used, displaying only the visible fields.

3. Restrict Export and Data Access In the Power BI Service:

Navigate to Settings > Admin Portal > Tenant Settings.

Disable options like Export Data and Show as a table under report settings.

This helps restrict access to underlying data for viewers .

4. Use App Permissions When publishing reports via Power BI Apps:

Ensure that Build permissions are not granted to consumers.

Turn off Export data and Analyze in Excel options in the app settings.
