Why are my all my GPU quota increases failing, and my support tickets for quote being closed without a response?

I have repeatedly requested quota increases for 10 T4 and A100 GPUs in USWEST, USWEST2, and USEAST. I used both the UI (the automated method) and by sending support requests. All my attempts have failed over the past week.

When I request by UI, Azure fails with the message: 'The resource operation completed with terminal provisioning state 'Failed'.'

When I send in a quota request to support, the request is closed a few minutes later by Microsoft with no response and no quota increase.

I currently have quotas of zero on all compute resources I need and cannot access Azure to perform our work.

Why is this happening? How can I get my quotas increased as requested?

    Hi Tim,

Due to current limitations, the requested virtual machine you selected can't be deployed on your subscription in this region at this time can be due to several reasons:

    • Some specific region/sku combinations can occasionally have capacity constraints.
    • Sometimes, if there is a high demand, SKU you requested is not available for the subscription you made the request on in that region at the current time.
    • Due to increase in demand and incredibly popular for AI based solutions which makes more difficult to get specific GPU SKUs in some regions.

However, please try with below possible recommendations to increase the chance of deployment of GPU SKUs.

    • Due to ongoing supply chain issues, it's important to request quota increases well in advance (1-3 months) of when you anticipate needing them.
    • If you still required this type of VMs, try to attempt by deploying in alternative regions.
    • If your current plan does not support GPU VMs, explore other Azure plans or upgrade to pay-as-you-go subscription options that do offer GPU support.
    • However, quota approval is not guaranteed, Microsoft Enterprise Agreement provides the best and most comprehensive choice which can likely improve your chances of getting quota increases approved chances because it supports commercial relationship between Microsoft and your organization.
