Multiple Virtual Machines receiving the following error: The Virtual Machine is undergoing a reboot due to a guest OS crash

Today we had multiple VMs shutdown and fail to start. The only error messages I can see state "The Virtual Machine is undergoing a reboot due to a guest OS crash." This happens over and over again until the machines just end up in a failed state.

    Dear Nathan,

The error "The Virtual Machine is undergoing a reboot due to a guest OS crash" indicates that the guest operating system is crashing repeatedly, causing automatic reboots that eventually fail.

    1. Check serial console or boot diagnostics for kernel panic or BSOD messages.
    2. Boot into Safe Mode / Recovery (use Serial Console or capture the OS disk and mount to another VM).
    3. Review recent updates – Roll back if a patch or config change occurred.
    4. Check VM Agent logs – Some crashes are triggered by corrupt agents.
    5. Create a support ticket if you're on Azure and need backend investigation (especially for platform-side issues).

    Best Regards,
