Running Windows Update on my Surface Go 2, I get the message "Get the newer version of Windows to stay up to dater." Yet there are NO updates shown to install! What is the meaning of this? How am I supposed to update Windows if there are no updates available in Windows Update?
Says I'm running Windows 11 Home 22H2 build 226214317.
Please advise how to get up to date with latest version.

Microsoft has released newer feature updates (like Windows 11 23H2 or even 24H2), and your system is being told to upgrade to those for continued support.

Under "Windows 11 Installation Assistant", click "Download now
Run the tool and follow the prompts.
OK. That did the trick (eventually). After jumping through some hoops [It forced me to download another app to see if my computer was Winn 11 compatible - I'm already running Win 11! Obviously it passed. The the Assistant went through the entire process of re-installing Windows. Hours later, the machine was on 24H2. Now... the updates. Going to Windows Update, there were countless updates which needed to be downloaded and installed. After each reboot, went to Win Update again and, sure enough, more updates. After no less than 6 hours, my machine is on 24H2 and it finally says I am up to date.
Although painful, you got me there. I thank you greatly. My question remains, though, "Why didn't Windows alert me that there was a system update available when it came out?" And also, Why, when I went to Windows Update initially, were there no updates available. Why did I manually have to go to the website and manually install the updates? Isn't that what Windows Update is there for?
