Issue with adding new accounts to azure devops.

Hello everyone,

I am having this new issue, everytime i try to add any user to the plateform and add the permissions, it doesn't allow this user to access anything and we get this error. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your question.

This happens sometimes when when a user is added and there’s a tenant mismatch between the organization and the user.

Try the folllowing:

• check that the user is added to both Entra ID and Azure devops using https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/organizations/accounts/add-organization-users
• Check that they are not signed in using a different directory/tenant. This can be checked in top-right of Azure DevOps
• Then sign in with a private browser
• Confirm that the user is a Work/School account not personal
• lastly check access level as well as Permissions assigned to projects

Could you please follow the below steps to resolve this issue:

1. Go to Azure DevOps -> Organization Settings -> Users -> Ensure the user's email appears in the list. If not, click on Add Users and send an invite with the correct access level (e.g., Basic).
2. If the user hasn’t accepted the invitation or clicked the invitation link in a different browser/session, permissions won’t finalize properly. Have them open the link in Incognito mode, then log in fresh.
3. Go to the Project Settings -> Permissions -> Add them to appropriate groups like Contributors, Readers, etc
4. To verify whether a user belongs to the correct Azure AD tenant or if there's a mismatch, you can use the Azure Portal -> Microsoft Entra ID -> Users -> Check the Identity column, if it says External AzureAD, the user is a guest from another tenant. If it says Microsoft Account, it’s not native to your tenant and also verify the User Type (Member vs. Guest)
5. A forced sign-out and sign-in can sometimes resolve it.
