You do not explicitly specify a reservation when provisioning a VM in Azure. Instead, Azure automatically applies the reservation benefit to any matching VM instance within the scope of the reservation (e.g., subscription, resource group, or shared). The reservation is applied based on key attributes such as region, VM size, and operating system type. As long as your VM configuration matches an available reservation and is within the correct scope, the discount is automatically applied—there’s no need to manually link the reservation during VM creation.

    Hi pierre shiraziefard,

I understand your concern regarding the errors encountered while creating a virtual machine (VM) using a reservation. These errors can occur due to several reasons.

If you see an error like "No available resources in specified reservations," it typically means that the properties of the VM you're trying to create do not match the reservation’s requirements.

    Possible causes include:

The VM size or type is not available in the selected region or availability zone.

Your subscription does not have sufficient quota for the requested VM size.

You’ve exceeded the maximum number of VMs allowed under the reservation.

Not all VM sizes are supported for reservations.

To better understand the issue and assist you further, could you please provide the exact error message you're seeing?

Also, refer to the following document for more details on common reasons why a Capacity Reservation cannot be created
