How can the date groups such as "Today," "Last Week," etc. be disabled in Windows File Explorer? These groups are not useful for personal file management preferences.

Have you already tried clicking on Sort > Group by > None?

Hello Fred, I am Henry and I want to share my insight about this issue.

I understand you want to disable the date grouping in File Explorer for a cleaner view. This feature is called "Group by," . You can reference the below solution:

    1. Open the folder where you see the date groups (e.g., Downloads).
    2. Right-click on an empty space within the folder.
    3. In the context menu, hover over Group by, then select (None).

Your files will now be displayed in a simple list without any date categories.

If you want to apply this view to all similar folders (e.g., all "Downloads" or "Documents" folders), follow these extra steps:

    1. Go to the View tab at the top of File Explorer.
    2. Click the Options button.
    3. In the new window, go to the View tab and click Apply to Folders.

This will set your current view as the default. Hope this helps you.
