Creating User Permissions For All Billing/Payment Info For Specific Account Only

Hello,

I manage our main MCC account and all accounts created under it. Each account under the MCC is used by different business units at our company. I want to allow users in specific accounts access to add and edit all payment information, but not have access to all acounts.

It looks like only Super Admins have the ability to add and edit payment information, and Super Admins have access to all accounts under the main MCC account. I want to add a user to only one specific account, but allow them access to add/edit payment information. Is this possible? Seems like a big limitation of the platform if not.

Thanks!

Hi MR_401

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Advertising Community Forum!

I understand the question, and I wanted to confirm that this statement is true

"It looks like only Super Admins have the ability to add and edit payment information, and Super Admins have access to all accounts"

If you wanted to add a user to only one specific account, the suggested role to use is a standard user role but it doesn't have the ability to Add, edit, or delete payment methods*

Resource: How do I give someone access to my Microsoft Advertising account?

  • Super Admin. This role has full permissions for all accounts. A Super Admin can manage everything related to billing and payments, account details, and other users (including other Super Admins). The Super Admin can specify which accounts other users have access to. When signing up as a new customer, the first user is the Super Admin. Super Admins can also be set as the Primary Contact to an account.
  • Standard User. This role has permissions to manage campaigns and perform some billing activities on selected accounts. This role cannot add, edit, or delete payment methods; create or delete accounts; or link to or unlink from clients. Standard Users can also be set as the Primary Contact to an account.

The option that you're requesting is not supported currently, but you can post an idea or vote for an existing one using our new feature suggestion community Microsoft Advertising Feature Suggestions · Community (powerappsportals.com)

    Hi Zoë Hoekstra

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Advertising Community Forum!

I understand that as an agency you're having some difficulties with managing your client(s) permissions.

Currently the recommendation for agency-client management is not to provide user invitation to your clients (client access) to your own manager account (Agency manager shell)

Allowing your client to add their own payment method on their account(s) without getting full permissions to other accounts is manageable through account linking process.

Please see below guidelines on how to manage your client(s) as an agency

Managing your clients as an agency on Microsoft Advertising

Once you and your client develop an agreement, which might include signing a contract, the recommended process for managing a client's account in Microsoft Advertising looks like this:

    Image

    Linking to an existing account

    To link to one account:

    1. From the navigation menu on the left, select Tools > All accounts.
    2. Select Accounts Summary > Requests.
    3. Select Link to account.
    4. Under Linking details, you will choose to either link to a Microsoft Advertising account or manager account. Select the appropriate option and then enter either the Account number (an 8-digit alphanumeric code) or the Manager account number (a 10-digit alphanumeric code ).
    5. Enter the Start date, which is the date you want to start managing the account.
    6. Add an optional Note, which you can use as a helpful note to the account owner.
    7. Select Send request if you don't wish to take over billing, or select I will take over billing for this account for Who pays.
    8. Select How you pay (prepay, postpay threshold, or monthly invoice) and What you pay with (your payment method).
For monthly invoice accounts, we encourage you to create an insertion order so that the account will continue to serve ads even as the management responsibilities change hands.
    9. Select Send request. We'll send an email to the account owner, notifying them of the linking request. The owner has 30 days to accept the request. After 30 days, the request is automatically declined.

When clients accept your request to manage their account, you become a direct manager on the account. You gain the necessary permissions to perform all campaign management tasks on behalf of your client, including setting budgets, creating ads, and updating keyword bids. The client will still have access to view and edit their campaigns. The responsibility for paying the bills (the bill-to customer) can belong to you or can remain with the client.

As a direct manager, you can take over billing of any account you're linked to. If you're an account owner, you can resume billing responsibilities at any time by taking over billing. The steps are the same, regardless of account ownership. Be sure you have a payment method on file before starting:

    1. From the navigation menu on the left, hover over Billing and select Payments.
    2. If you have multiple accounts, choose one from the account selector in the top menu.
    3. In Billing summary, select Change who pays in the Who pays tile.
    4. You'll be directed to a new page where you can schedule the take over, specify How you will pay (prepay, postpay threshold, or monthly invoice) and What you pay with (your payment method).
For monthly invoice accounts, we encourage you to create an insertion order so that the account will continue to serve ads even as the management responsibilities change hands.
    5. Select Submit.

Is this possible yet? It is really annoying as an agency that I cannot as my client as a user so they can add their own payment method to their account. It would be incredibly unprofessional and reckless to give them access to all accounts.

How can we add the client as a user to only their account so they can add a payment method??
