We are an independent media agency that handles many clients. We have a client who wants to set up a Microsoft Ads account. Their old account was lost due to their previous agency not responding to our requests to link.

How do we set them up an account with them as the owner?

Hi Tracey Heong,

Thank you for using our Microsoft Advertising Community Forum! My name is Shaynne, and I will be happy to assist you with your query.

I can see that you are interested in finding out on how to set up an account for your client since you are unable to gain an access to their old account as their previous agency was unresponsive with the account linking request.

We strongly recommend that the client or the agency to create a separate account through the Microsoft Advertising sign up process. As an agency you can then send a request to the client to manage their account.

You can work with your client what works for them - if they will let you create their own separate account, and just give them an access to it.  Or let them create the account and you can just submit the request to manage their account through account linking. This way, their account will not be permanently associated with your agency account, and they'll be able to take over at any time. In order for you to manage your client's account, you may then proceed with the account linking process.

As the direct manager of the account, you will be able to:

  • Run and manage campaigns
  • Ability to take over billing and payment responsibilities
  • Granting and removing account access by managing link requests
  • Other account management activities

I hope that you find the information helpful in addressing your concern. Our support teams are happy to discuss your account in more detail via phone, chat or email to provide review assistance, please see our support page to reach out. I have also sent you a private message if in case you still need further assistance on my end, you are more than welcome to reply on my message!
