According to the documentation of HPC Pack 2012, SOA workloads on the Linux compute nodes are not supported, see also https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/76ee35f5-9ec0-4cb2-a44f-33fa04953b4b/linux-hpc-2016-nodes-running-soa-requests?forum=windowshpcitpros

Questions:

  1. Is this still not supported for HPC Pack 2019?
  2. If yes, what is the time schedule for supporting SOA on Linux compute nodes?
  3. Is the open source project https://github.com/coolmay/HPCSOA for SOA support on Linux compatible with HPC Pack 2019?

@Torsten Apologies for all the delay in response and all inconvenience caused because of the issue.

Below is the response I got from our internal team:

1.Is this still not supported for HPC Pack 2019?

It is not supported for HPC Pack 2019. .Net Core does not support WCF service host which blocks the SOA support on Linux nodes.

2.If yes, what is the time schedule for supporting SOA on Linux compute nodes?

Currently we don’t have a plan to support SOA on Linux for HPC Pack. We do have a plan to support that in a cloud native SOA platform for the future.

3.Is the open source project https://github.com/coolmay/HPCSOA for SOA support on Linux compatible with HPC Pack 2019?

The open source Java service host implementation on JDK 1.8 and CXF 2.7 is a bit old and out of support. It may not work with HPC Pack 2019.

    Hope it helps!!!
