Surface RT unable to refresh/reset

I currently have a Microsoft Surface RT that I am totally stuck on.  It is booting into bitlocker repair, but the recovery key is unavailable, even when logging in online through skydrive with the Microsoft account used on the device.

I've tried everything, including downloading the recovery image for this registered device and booting from the USB drive.  When I choose to reset it, I just receive the message, "There was a problem resetting your PC." no matter what options are selected (repartition/fully clean/etc).  I tried the diskpart utility to clean or repartition the drive from the command line as well as to format it, but since it is bitlocked, I am unable to do anything with it.  PLEASE HELP!!!

I can't justify paying $99 to speak with Microsoft about this issue when I can purchase a newer and better Surface as a replacement for less than the cost of a support call.

sounds like the SSD is toasted... if you are in the US, you can go to a physical

retail Microsoft Store and they will take a look at it.

>>it shows 1%, 2%, 56%, then shows the message that it was unable to be reset

As Barb mentioned, it does sound like your Surface may be in need of service.  You may try here: Send my Surface in for service

As Barb mentioned, Microsoft's download links are broken at this link.  The "Contact Us" link costs $99 since it is out of waranty.

Sorry about the troubles. Please see herethe Surface Download recovery image link.

the broken downloads have been reported. I got an acknowledgement of the report,

but no info on timing of a fix.

Does someone at least have links available to the original recovery image for this device?  They are not available from Microsoft's website.
