My question is how to restrict user except administrator to create team in MS teams.

can someone help me to resolved this query as soon as possible.

To add salt to injury, I'm having grief when trying to use the PS module,
It installs (i removed the standard one and install the preview), but it does not recognise the commands or allow me to connect to AzureAD
"The term 'Connect-AzureAD' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet,"

I have set the policy in Teams Policies to prevent the creation of shared and private channels, though that does not change the individual Teams, so I dont know what good it is.
Now I am manually going through the settings on each Team, there are 65 and flicking the switchs for each.
It would be nice if there were some global settings here for this.

Hi AbhishekNegi,

If you want to restrict users to create team, it needs to disable the ability to create groups in Office 365. Since Office 365 group is integrated with many Office 365 services, such as Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Yammer. If you'd like to disable the creation of teams, all the other services will be also disabled. Currently there's no way to just disable the team creation for Teams users only.

When will this change as out system is a complete mess because of users having this ability. we disabled it using Powershell and some microsoft update has seemed to re enable this.

I've had to the exact same issue. I ran the powershell update to restrict it to admins only, the other day I noticed it was re-enabled again when users started to create new Teams groups.............needs a simple button in Teams admin center to disable it.

Whole MS community and users have been asking for this feature since the days Teams have launched but still you guys havent given this simple feature to turn Off the ability of careting teams. what is the reason behind not implementing it even if after so much noise on it?

We are trying to disable this for our organization as well and within minutes of having a specific security group that disables the group creation function, it gets turned back on. We then have to re-run the PowerShell script again.....

What a pain. Looks like currently you might have to run a daily PS script to disable this functionality.

@Sharon Zhao-MSFT would you know how to revert the change suggested in the link you provided? We were controlling access to create Teams channels via group. We've been asked to revert this and open it to all users. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, PowerShell scripts did not help much. We had to run MS Power Automate to assist in getting all the group info (EXCO didn't want just the names, creation dates from the groups, they wanted to see what files are in the groups/channels and who has access to it) and created a Power BI report for EXCO to decide which groups they want to archive/remove... Then we had to build another Power Automation to actually do the archiving and removals....

Everyone in my organization created "Temporary Teams" and leaving lot of garbage.
Now I don't know how to handle that huge number of sites in Sharepoint.

Budi Santoso I would recommend sending out an org wide communication and ask them to backup whatever information that decided to put on their respective sites. Give them a month and then delete them all. It will, however, remove the team site, the documents, Channel, and distribution list.
