Data security and auto transcription on Microsoft Teams

Hello,

I am a researcher based at University College Dublin, Ireland. I am about to embark on a series of online in-depth interviews via video conferencing.

I am interested in using Microsoft Teams because of the auto transcription feature. This would save me a lot of time and effort in transcribing the interviews manually later on.

Can the text generated from the auto transcription be easily copied and pasted to a word doc?

More importantly, does the use of the auto transcription feature impact on the security of the data in any way? (I ask because with some other video platforms you need to disable end-to-end encryption in order to enable transcription.)

The content of the interviews is of a sensitive nature so data protection will be paramount.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    As a workaround you can download the auto-generated VTT transcript file from Stream and then run it through this little web utility which pulls out just the transcript text from the file (removing the time codes, metadata, and blank lines). For more details, you can refer to:
