Surface headphone pivot cracking

I absolutely love the surface headphones, but no matter how religiously I use the case and handle with care, the earcup pivot pieces crack. This first affects the ANC coverage. Eventually the cables get damaged due to the loose plastic and the audio stops working. I’m on my second pair, same issue. Is this being addressed? I’d prefer no pivot and metal parts to keep a solid pair as it’s my only complaint.
